"BLUE BRIDGE" is a multiblock woodcut, created from 4 hand-carved blocks of birch plywood.
Each woodblock is rolled with ink & individually printed to paper, one impression atop the next.

The overlapping color lent from each block creates
a vibrant spectrum in the finished prints.
MAKING THE "BLUE BRIDGE" WOODCUT
The 4 woodblocks that make the "BLUE BRIDGE" woodcut.
The distant view of hills & bridge, seen through the tree branches, is printed only from color blocks.
This lends a gentle, subtler line to the background than the bold, black lines of forest,
giving the effect of distance to the beyond.
PUBLISHING THE "BLUE BRIDGE" WOODCUT
Each woodblock is individually hand-inked & printed to paper through a press.
The 4 colors printed layer to build the final printed image on paper, shown below.
(It takes at least 400 rolls through the press to make 100 prints.)
"BLUE BRIDGE" - A print that offers a pleasant, window-like view of teeming nature,
while also
celebrating the striking simple beauty & ingenuity of the bridge
that so readily allows us to traverse it.
